Back to China for a month this summer

I'll go back to China this summer, probably during the month of August, and stay for about 4 weeks. Might visit a few labs in China.

That's happy news, Yi Xing, trips to China are good. What area will you travel to? I hope you are not planning Chongqing in August! My family plans our trip (to Chongqing) in October, 4 weeks for us as well but not until the weather is less beastly hot.

Thanks for coordinating posts from AS-SIG attendees, I will watch the accumulation of notes with interest. My impression from reading the posts on your blog is that AS-SIG was very computationally intensive (no surprise) but perhaps reports on bench work -- "wet biology" -- were more scarce. I anticipate that manipulation of splicing and characterization of the results of splice-modification will emerge as a key part of the alternative splicing field, but it seems for now that computational analysis of sequence data is currently the richest source of splicing information, especially on genomic scales. Sooner or later, when the genomic scale is better characterized, I expect attention to shift to gene-at-a-time characterization; this shift will signal the opportunity for Gene Tools products to contribute to the effort, so I am watching the field with interest. Again, thanks for arranging this information resource.

Regards,

- Jon

Yi Xing:

In fact, there are many talks in the AS-SIG about experimental studies of AS. I'll write more about them later.
